With this week being “Thank-giving” week, it got me thinking..
Sitting around dinner table last night recounting all the things we, as a family, (and individuals) are “Thankful” for just highlighted something for me. I noticed that most sentences started with “I am soo grateful that/for…”
How many of us are GRATEFUL for what we have in our lives, but forget to be THANKFUL for what we have in our lives…
..and is there a difference?!
Think about it for a minute..
In this so-called “New Age” it seem that every second person and their dog are spewing out words like: blessings, love, light, gratitude, positive attitude… and the list goes on & on… (waaaay too many to mention – but you get the general idea…)
BUT!! …how many of us actually STOP & TAKE THE TIME to be THANKFUL.
I mean R-E-A-L-L-Y Thankful – and actually SAY it!
We read a multitude of media that reminds us to keep mindful of being Grateful – and that is “great”
..but how many times did you stop to say “THANKYOU” during that display of gratitude?
Humour me for a moment – lets use a simple example:
We picture in our minds that open parking space near the entrance to the mall…*thumbs up* …and Lo & Behold! There! It “Magically” comes available, just as we get within parking distance! We smile knowingly! We are eternally GRATEFUL that it is available!! – that we didn’t have to walk Miles & Miles… we bless our car, the person leaving and the car-guard, and go about our shopping… BUT.. how many times, during that whole procedure, did you STOP, ACKNOWLEDGE what just happened and SAY: “THANKYOU FOR THAT!! I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!”
lol! Such a “simple” thing, but I am willing to bet, that for most of you, you forgot! ..you did however gush to your friend/family member or passing pedestrians that you are Grateful – but did you remember to say “Thank-you”?!
So many times I hear stories being recounted about a “bad” day…
“this went wrong, and that went wrong…and then to top it ALL OFF…this Also happened – but THANK GOODNESS it all worked out in the end…”
I ALWAYS ask the same question at the end of that kind of rant: “DID YOU SAY THANK-YOU that, that ONE THING DID work out..?”
and from my experience, 9 out of 10 times.. I am answered by Stunned Silence and an embarrassed “um…No..”
It’s Just a thought.. Use it, don’t use it!
I think that if we were to remain Mindful of being Thankful & Grateful, we’d have even MORE to express gratitude for!
..and now I am Thankful & Grateful that you have taken to time out of your busy life to read my ramblings! Thank you!
’til next time!
Be Blessed!
